촬영다니다보면 플래스틱 헬멧은 가벼워서 편하지만 조금 불안할 때가 있고, 방탄헬멧은 든든하지만 너무 무거워서 영 불편하다.

처음 레바논 갈 때 PASGT 방탄헬멧을 가지고 갔었는데 너무 무겁고 더워서 고생하다가 결국 1주일 정도 지나고는 약간 안일해져서 맨 머리로 돌아다니곤 했던 기억에, 가자지구 갈 때는 폭탄 직격 맞으면 어차피 죽는거 폭탄으로 건물더미가 무너지거나 할 때만 머리 충격 줄일 수 있게 가벼운걸로 항상 쓰고 있자고 플래스틱 프로텍 헬멧을 가져갔었다. 그런데, 오히려 팔레스타인 시위현장에서는 고무가 코팅된 쇠볼을 총으로 쏜다길래 플래스틱은 깨질 것 같아서 결국 또 다시 무거운 ACH헬멧을 썼었다.

이런 강성과 무게의 딜레마를 약간 풀어줄 수 있는게 이 카본섬유 헬멧이 아닐까 싶다.

프로텍 플래스틱 헬멧이 355g, Mich 헬멧이 1315g 이니까 682g인 이 헬멧은 프로텍보다는 무겁지만 Mich의 딱 절반 정도로 무게가 가볍다.

680g 정도면 780g 인 니콘 17-35mm 렌즈보다 100g 정도 가볍고 525g인 SB-900 스트로보보다는 155g 정도 무거운 정도이다.

강성은 플래스틱 헬멧보다는 높고 Mich보다는 낮을텐데, 솔직히 중간쯤이라고 하기엔 무리가 있을 것 같고, 그래도 이스라엘 국경수비대가 쏘는 직격 고무코팅탄이나 폭발에 의한 2차 파편 정도는 막을 것 같다.

Mich 방탄헬멧도 어차피 직격 소총탄 맞으면 뚫리는거, 이거 하나면 시위현장부터 전쟁터까지 고민 없이 하나로 다 될 듯..

문제는 가격.

가격이 600불.

비싸다..

꼭 마음에 드는건 비싸다..
